Iglika Christova was born in 1979 in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she graduated from The Art School. After University studies in France, spurred by the rejection of a certain classicism, she decided to settle in Paris.
In her art studio are to be found scattered sketches, different composite stubbings, stencils… the essentials for her creations.
Her painting is a blend of West and East. It expresses the progressive deconstruction of the matter thanks to the direct approach of her gestures in order to break up the structures of "realistic" drawing
(this word being always inadequate), the latter, step by step, mergers with the abstract.
Iglika Christova plays with the accidents, the haphazards of time, the irregularities, linking two worlds that everything seemed to separate.
The traces of signs invading this universe in perpetual motion, serve as biographical indications of the works course…
In this approach, painting is only a screen, enhancing the problem of time through the limitation of its illustration space. |
